    This is where you can read about and apply to be a Sumter County Schools Volunteer. When approved, your application is good for 3 years. All adults who wish to volunteer for anything at South Sumter High School must be an approved volunteer. 

     

  • Tate Music and Repair

    This is the store that does all of our repairs. If you ever need a repair done on your instrument, call them and set up a pick-up at our school. He visits on Thursdays. They also sell instrument supplies. Reeds, valve oil, slide grease etc.

Hear From Our Teacher

Ray Hojilla is an educator and trombonist from Port St. Lucie, Florida. He currently holds an Associate in Arts degree in Music from Indian River State College and a Bachelor's in Music Educational Studies from the University of South Florida. Mr. Hojilla has studied trombone with MSG Carlyle Weber, Patrick O'Brian, Dr. Jonathan Tang, and Professor Tom Brantley. He has studied Music Education with Ms. Joann Kinder at Southern Oaks Middle School, Dr. John K. Southall at IRSC, Dr. Tina DiMeglio, Dr. Mathew McCutchen, Dr. Marc Sosnowchick, and Dr. David Williams at USF. He previously served as the Interim Director of bands at Southern Oaks Middle School, Director of Bands at Carwise Middle school in Pinellas County and most recently Director of Band and Choir at South Sumter Middle School before moving to SSHS in 2026. 

Outside of School Mr. Hojilla serves as a professional trombonist and clinician working with other bands throughout the state of Florida.
